Here at Dirt Road Wild Flower Farm we appreciate your support of our growing flower farm, ha, animal sanctuary too it seems. I have the utmost gratitude to all of you who purchase because it means we can care for animals here that depend on us and unwanted new ones we take in. We want you to fall in love with growing dahlias and strive to grow the best healthy dahlias and tubers to make your gardens bloom. All dahlias we sell are grown here at our farm.

•Im vigilant about walking rows and culling any suspicious plants throughout the season up until first frost. I pull any plants that are stunted, have stunted leaves, oak leaf pattern and circular dmv, deveigning, galls, etc and also all varieties I grow will not be for sale each year as I want to make sure to the best I am able that they are great plants and will be exceptional for you to. I periodically spray organic chemicals and brix to prevent pest damage and any disease transmition.

•Snips and cutters are sanitized betwen cutting blooms, field cutdown and dividing clumps. We have many cats that we only hope do the job of keeping rodents away so they are not munching on tubers underground. Disease can also be transmitted in this way.

•We do not allow anyone else to harvest dahlia blooms in order to keep the dahlias as disease free as possible which respectively means we do not have Dahlia U-picks.

VIRUS It is impossible to test all dahlia plants for virus. According to the American Dahlia Society’s research, 87% of healthy looking asymptomatic plants can carry at least one underlying dormant virus. A stressful situation for the plant can bring that out the following growing season. Make sure to water good during stressful hot dry weather. Even our MN summers are hotter. Running a sprinkler in the hottest part of these days minimizes stress for your plants. I only overhead water all plants here and they thrive.

Dahlia tubers are sold individually and I try my best by hand selecting them with at least one viable eye and look for the qualities they need to be of sound growing condition upon shipping. Sometimes that eye gets crazy and wants to grow and needs a pinch back before planting. When you receive your package open immediately and verify you are satisfied with the condition of the tubers, and that no damage occurred during shipping. If you are satisfied, the tubers will be 100% your responsibility after 5 days are up. We are not responsible for damage due to your storage method until planting time, if you decide to take cuttings and ruin your tuber doing so, planting too early, poor growing conditions, pests, plants that failed due to adverse weather, freezing, too much water, not enough, Mother Nature, etc. during the growing season. There are many reasons beyond my control why they do not perform well in the field throughout the growing season. If you feel there is an issue with your tubers upon receiving, please send an email to teresascheff14@gmail.com with a photo, description and your order number and again within 5 days of receiving your order and I will remedy the situation. After this the buyer assumes all risk when buying tubers. Dirt Road Wild Flower Farm can not be held responsible for outside factors mentioned above.

I try my best to ensure they are also true to type. If you have any concerns with a mislabeled variety upon blooming please let me know by Sept 1.

Dahlia tubers will start shipping on or after April 15, 2024 when all danger of freezing temps have past. Keep in mind we ship from MN and our temps are not always yours. On occasion we get freezing temps here even during and after that shipping time. This process can take 2 to 3 weeks as I am double and triple checking every tuber that is shipping out. Orders will ship in the order they are received. With the amount of orders I usually have come in I cannot fulfill early requests. Later orders may take longer but I want them to go out fast to so I can get beds ready to plant and my own outdoor responsibilities. Please try to only message if its urgent and know we are working fast, a small farm, mostly just me shipping to get them to you and I cannot answer emails all day as to when your order will ship. I ask for patience during this time as the very few free minutes I can sneak in during tuber shipping are to also start and tend seedlings, dahlia cuttings, farm animals, family and life. Its a perishable product and requires extra care and my focus is that during shipping. Remember during this time, we are working long hours to make this happen in a short time and dahlias can be planted until mid June, even later in the south. I reserve the right to cancel any order if you cannot be. Unfortunately it happens. Again, when you receive your package, remember to please open and inspect tubers immediately upon delivery and store in proper environment for dahlias until your planting time. At this time we only ship within the lower 48. No international shipping.

WE WILL NOT BE COMBINING ORDERS THIS YEAR.

We will be doing a flat rate shipping fee of $18.40. The cost for a medium flat rate box. I mail right at our local post office and do my best to get that information entered as well each day.

If something should go wrong in storage or unforeseen circumstances on our end and I am unable to ship some or all of your order, you will be fully refunded for those items. I do not substitute tubers. All sales are final and there are no cancellations.

ONLINE SHOPPING

Like all online shopping, putting an item in your cart doesn’t secure it until you go thru the checkout process and pay. I know it’s not fun, especially during a dahlia tuber sale, but it’s something no one has control over. Just remember, there are so many gorgeous dahlias out there to try.

Hopefully at some point those of us that are trying to save and build stock on newer varieties we are lucky enough to procure, we can then get them thru winter storage so that we can build stock over time, which will eventually make it a nicer shopping experience for everyone to get them too as we will have more we can share.  It can also take a few years before new introductions are more easily available. Patience is a virtue for sure. I also have some varieties I grow more of than others for various reasons and have more to offer of some. Also, every year is a different growing year and sometimes the plants don’t give me as many tubers as the year before. Try to be kind
